Greenville is a jewel of Michigan located in the famous Montcalm County. It is a small town with a population of 8,400. Yet, it is a historical center of the County with more than a couple of historic landmarks.
The most iconic is the Black Field, the historic stadium. The stadium is carved into a hillside, and it has been in use since 1933. It was named after Dr. D. K. Black, who donated the stadium to Greenville High School. Today the stadium is retired but still in a magnificent state.
You can take a walk with your family along the banks of the Flat River, where you can find The Little Mermaid, a copy of the famous Danish monument. If you are more of a city person, then the historic main street should be your destination, or travel to near cities in Muskegon, Belding, and Grand Rapids. There you can marvel at the early 20th-century architecture and Greenville’s city hall.
Other historic landmarks include the Historic Armory, the Flat River Historical Museum, the Fighting Falcon Museum, and First Congregational Church.
